Experimental performance of microchannel heat sink was not matching classical fin efficiency predictions. A 2D numerical model was built to capture the impact of axial conduction and rising fluid temperatures.

Studying the surface structure of the sintered heat sinks revealed positive features from severe overhang angles and melt pool splatter. This figure was obtained by overlaying a point cloud from a micro-CT scan with the print's STEP file.
